World-class medical equipment worth approximately 650,000 zlotys was donated by the Michelin Corporate Foundation to the Department of Pathology and Congenital Birth Defects of Newborns and Infants of the Regional Specialist Children’s Hospital in Olsztyn. The Michelin Corporate Foundation is based in France and operates in 32 countries. In 2018 only it implemented 115 projects, helping local communities in areas such as supporting of sustainable development, healthcare, environmental protection, education, sports and artistic initiatives.
The Hospital received from the Michelin Corporate Foundation two world-class incubators, a central monitoring station with eight cardiac monitors, two transport cardiac monitors, a phototherapy lamp, breast pumps and other equipment.
- The Clinical Department of Pathology and Congenital Birth Defects of Newborns and Infants has never received a one-time assistance of such a generous size. The equipment donated by the Michelin Corporate Foundation will enable the hospital to rescue and treat the most seriously ill newborns in the region - says medical doctor Krystyna Piskorz-Ogórek, director of the Hospital.
- We are happy that, thanks to the Michelin Corporate Foundation, the hospital now has such modern equipment. Helping the Children’s Hospital is an expression of our social responsibility. We have already been cooperating for many years, organizing such events as, for example, “Kilometry pomocy” (Kilometers of help), during which our employees and residents of Olsztyn may walk, run or ride a bicycle and thus generate the means to purchase medical equipment - said Jarosław Michalak, the Chairman of the Board of Michelin Polska S.A., while handing a symbolic check to Krystyna Piskorz-Ogórek, director of the Hospital.
