58%* of drivers check their tyre pressure too rarely

What do Polish drivers know about tyre pressure control?

80%**of surveyed drivers know where to find information on correct tyre pressure, nevertheles 58% of them controll tyres too rarely – Moto Data research shows. Only 42%*** of drivers regularly (on montlhy basis) check their tyre pressure. It is a minimal control frequency that allows to reduce a risk of driving with incorrect tyre pressure, thus increasing the road safety.

„One should keep in mind that driving with incorrect tyre pressure negatively impacts road safety. Inappropriate pressure decreases car’s traction and extends its stopping distance. Moreover, such tyres wear irregularly – they could overheat and rupture, therefore their life span is severely shortened. Under-inflated tyre has also higher rolling resistance indicators, resulting in increased fuel consumption. Unfortunately, only 42% of drivers control tyre pressure on a monthly basis. Regular inspection is essential for reducing mentioned threats and improving fuel efficiency” – says Tadeusz Kuncy from Moto Data.

The majority of surveyed drivers know where to find information on correct tyre pressure. Some cars are equiped with sensors, that inform the driver about any irregularieties in tyre pressure. One should keep in mind, that there is no universal value, that is optimal for every vehicle. It is the car producer, who sets out the right pressure – adjusted to the car model and engine type. That is why, proper tyre pressure is mentioned in the vehicle’s manual.
