Streets made of tyres

 

In Kościerzyna (Pomeranian voivodship) has been used a modern asphalt modified with the addition of rubber. The latest product of LOTOS Asphalt MODBIT CR 45/80-55 covered section national route No. 20. To produce rubber-modified asphalt for a route of 1 km in length, width 6 m and a thickness of 4 cm there is needed a rubber obtained from recycling of 400 used car gyres.

The average driver in particular will appreciate the reduction of the noise of vehicles and improved resistance to rutting compared to standard conditions.

Gdańsk refinery of Grupa LOTOS, the first such a facility in the country produced asphalt modified with the addition of rubber derived from used tyres. Implemented by LOTOS production technology of "rubber asphalt" allows for the widespread use of this product for the construction of road pavement wearing courses. Laboratory tests have confirmed that the new asphalt  has very good characteristics. The major advantages of modified bitumen with the addition of rubber may include increased resistance to aging, increased resistance to climatic factors, increased resistance to cracking and low temperature reflected.

LOTOS Asphalt, at the end of May, at the ninth Autostrada-Polska Trade Fair in Kielce, was awarded a medal for rubber modified asphalt. Product innovation and its high utility has been recognized at the fair  in the category of technology. Asphalt modified with the addition of rubber was awarded, as a single asphalt product.
