After first semester of recovery, third quarter of 2014 brought stable sales results on the tyre market. However, taking into account full nine months from the beginning of 2014, general sales increased, which is supported by the increase of new car registrations. Category of consumer cars noted 5% of sales increase, similarly as truck and bus - 6%. Agriculture tyres segment remained on the same level.
In Poland - as in the previous quarter - sales increase in case of summer and racing tyres was at the level of 13,6%, while in the 4x4 tyre segment it was about 2,5%. However, in the agriculture tyres’ segment we noted 42,7% increase. There’s more sales of the off-road tyres, at about 14,6% more than during first 3 quarters of 2013. Season of the year is the reason why there are slight declines in case of winter tyres - almost 0,6%, motorcycle and scooter – 0,36%, and trucks and buses - 0,56%.
- After promising first half of the year we notice stable sales results, not in all the segments though. Especially the slight decrease in case of truck tyres is quite a surprise. It’s the last months of the year that would decide about the final sales’ results - says Piotr Sarnecki, Director General of PTIA.
