– The results of tyre sales in 2019 indicate the saturation of the Polish market. Agricultural tyres recorded a drop in sales by 17% – this was due to, among others, unfavourable weather conditions. Drought occurred in all monitored crops and the area of crops affected by the drought is over 30% of the total agricultural land. In addition, price changes on agricultural markets, which took place in 2019, were definitely not beneficial for manufacturers of agricultural tyres. However, I believe that more and more farmers, entrepreneurs and individual customers know that good tyres are an investment that pays off – more and more of them are consciously choosing tyres of better quality in order to reduce the costs of use, which is particularly important in this increasingly demanding market – says Andrzej Włodarczyk, President of the Polish Tyre Industry Association.
– In 2019, like 2018, tyres for SUVs that were still gaining popularity among drivers, with sales growth in this segment by 11%. The volume of sales of tyres for passenger cars and trucks has decreased – in the case of trucks, this was mainly due to the decline in construction production last year and the number of delays in infrastructural investments – adds Piotr Sarnecki, General Director of PTIA.
The European tyre market is experiencing a decline in sales:
– Antidumping duties were imposed on Chinese Imports of Truck Tyres. The flat sales in the Truck Tyre replacement segment shows that Chinese imports were at least partly replaced by imports from other countries, particularly South East Asia and Korea – said Fazilet Cinaralp, Secretary General of ETRMA.
